LE NOUVEL AMBASSADEUR OFFICIEL DU TEMPLE DE SHAOLIN Brings Charm to China !

More than 50 million foreigners come in and out of China every year while 5 million live in the country. They come for different reasons but most are passionate about Chinese culture," as recently noted by China Daily in its article devoted to the You Bring Charm to China awards.

The Chinese awards were given out last November 4th to nine foreigners and two Chinese citizens for their contribution to the country. Dominique Saatenang was one of them*. An occasion to remember the African Bruce Lee’s list of honors. And to announce his appointment as the Official Ambassador to Shaolin Temple by the Spiritual Leader of the Temple a few days before.

The ceremony, broadcast on Tianjin TV and Phoenix TV offered viewers a "Sino-African" show blending African dance and Chinese martial arts. Dominique Saatenang collaborated with dancers from the Cameroon National Ballet for the occasion.

Les awards chinois ont récompensé le 4 novembre dernier 9 étrangers et 2 chinois pour leur contribution au pays.  Dominique Saatenang était l’un d’eux *. L’occasion de rappeler le palmarès du Bruce Lee Africain. Et d’annoncer sa nomination d’Ambassadeur Officiel du Temple de Shaolin par le Chef Spirituel du Temple quelques jours avant.

La cérémonie, retransmise sur Tianjin TV et Phoenix TV a offert aux téléspectateurs un show « Chine-Afrique » mêlant danse africaine et arts martiaux. Pour l’occasion, Dominique Saatenang avait collaboré avec les danseurs du Ballet National du Cameroun.

AFRICAN TOUR 2012

At the beginning of 2012, Dominique Saatenang, Ambassador of Shaolin Temple, went back on the road on the continent where he was born. First, the Ivory Coast. Then Gabon. Cameroon, at last.

In Abidjan, he was warmly welcomed and honored. Philippe Legré, Minister of Sports and Recreation received him in his office with his staff. Indeed, Master Saatenang decided to encourage the youth of this country under reconstruction by selecting two young talents who will join in February, the six scholarship students already admitted to Shaolin Temple. Master Saatenang proposed to the Minister to organize a Grand Martial Arts Gala as a sign of the Reconciliation. Personalities from the martial arts world and Shaolin Temple will mobilize to support this cause.

Two Congolese youth were also selected and will complete the class of young Africans at Shaolin.

A few days later, in Yaounde, Mr. Adoum Garoua, the new Minister of Sports and Physical Education, in turn received Master Saatenang in his office.

Very close to the young scholars, despite the distance between them and a very busy schedule, Master Saatenang took advantage of his visit to Africa to meet with the families of the students and give them news of their children.

Under the sign of the water dragon, 2012 already has a good outlook for trade between the two continents.

En ce début d’année 2012,  Dominique Saatenang, Ambassadeur du Temple de Shaolin, a repris la route du continent qui l’a vu naître. D’abord la Côte d’Ivoire. Puis le Gabon. Le Cameroun, enfin.

A Abidjan, c’est avec chaleur et honneur qu’il fut accueillit.  Philippe Legré, Ministre des Sports et Loisirs l’a reçu dans son cabinet, en compagnie de ses collaborateurs. En effet, Maître Saatenang a décidé d’encourager la jeunesse de ce pays en reconstruction en sélectionnant deux jeunes Talents qui rejoindront, en février prochain, les six étudiants boursiers déjà admis au Temple de Shaolin. Maître Saatenang a proposé au Ministre d’organiser un Grand Gala d’Arts Martiaux placé sous le signe de la Réconciliation. Des personnalités du Monde des Arts martiaux et le Temple de Shaolin se mobiliseront afin de soutenir cette cause.

Deux jeunes congolais ont également été sélectionnés et viendront compléter la promotion des jeunes africains de Shaolin.

Quelques jours plus tard,  à Yaoundé, M. Adoum Garoua, nouveau Ministre des Sports et de l’Éducation physique reçut à son tour Maître Saatenang dans son cabinet.

Très proche des jeunes boursiers, malgré la distance qui les séparent et un emploi du temps très chargé, Maître Saatenang a profité de sa tournée en Afrique pour rencontrer les familles des étudiants et leur donner ainsi des nouvelles de leurs enfants.

Placée sous le signe du dragon d’eau, 2012 annonce dores et déjà de jolies perspectives d’échanges entre les deux continents.

On December 14, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and First Lady Carla Sarkozy welcomed over 900 children throughout France for the annual tradition of the Elysee Palace Christmas Tree Ceremony. 

The festivities began with a performance that took place in one of the most beautiful theaters in the capital, Mogador theater. A magical moment. An unforgettable experience.

Master Saatenang was present, confirming his commitment to the youth. He and his associates performed a brand new number for the children, blending African dance and Shaolin Kung Fu.

Founding President of AFA WUSHU (Franco-African Wushu Association), Master Saatenang then accompanied the young students of his association to refreshments generously hosted by the Elysee Palace, where he had the opportunity to greet the President of the Republic and his wife.

Le 14 décembre dernier, Nicolas et Carla Sarkozy ont accueilli plus de 900 enfants venus des quatre coins de l’Hexagone à l’occasion de l’Arbre de Noël de l’Elysée.

Les festivités ont débuté par un spectacle qui s’est déroulé dans l’un des plus beaux

théâtres de la capitale, le théâtre Mogador. Un instant magique. Un souvenir inoubliable. Maître Saatenang était présent, confirmant son engagement auprès de la jeunesse. Lui et ses acolytes ont offert aux enfants un numéro inédit mêlant danse africaine et Kung Fu Shaolin. Président Fondateur de l’AFA WUSHU (Association Franco Africaine de Wushu), Maître Saatenang a ensuite accompagné les jeunes élèves de son association au goûter très généreusement organisé par l’Elysée où il a eu l’occasion de saluer le Président de la République et son épouse.

A PROMISE KEPT…"YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARS AT SHAOLIN"

  

Three months ago, Master Saatenang, the first African and first black to have been inducted as a member of Shaolin Temple, scoured Africa in search of talented young athletes whom he couldn’t wait to give a new lease on life.

To the Chinese, he is the African Bruce Lee, at the Temple he is known by his Shaolin name Master Shi Yan Mai, he secured 10 scholarships from the Spiritual Head of Shaolin Temple, His Excellence Abbot Shi Yong Xin.  Five years to study sports medicine at the heart of this sanctuary that is as fascinating as it is presigious.

Three countries have already come together for this out of the ordinary adventure :  Cameroon, Gabon, and Rwanda are represented at the Temple since October 24th, the arrival of the first students.  Two other countries will join the training in February 2012, just after Chinese New Year’s.

The training is overseen by the High Authority of Master Saateang, recently promoted to Ambassador of Shaolin Temple.

A documentary on the young Africans of Shaolin is now in production and will be broadcast in 2012 on African television networks.

Promesse tenue…

Il y a trois mois, Maitre Saatenang, premier africain et premier noir à avoir été consacré membre du Temple de Shaolin, sillonnait l’Afrique à la recherche de jeunes athlètes talentueux auxquels ils ne tarderaient pas à faire don d’une vie nouvelle.

Celui que les chinois surnomment le Bruce Lee africain, également connu au Temple sous le nom shaolin de Shifu Shi Yan Mai a en effet négocié 10 Bourses d’études auprès du Chef Spirituel du Temple de Shaolin, Son Excellence l’Abbé Shi Yon Xin. Cinq années pour étudier la médecine sportive au sein de ce sanctuaire aussi fascinant que prestigieux.

Trois pays sont déjà au rendez-vous pour cette aventure hors du commun : le Cameroun, le Gabon et le Rwanda sont représentés au Temple depuis le 24 Octobre dernier, date à laquelle sont arrivés les premiers étudiants. Deux autres pays rejoindront la formation en février 2012, peu de temps après le nouvel an chinois.

La formation est placée sous la Haute Autorité de Maître Saatenang, récemment promu Ambassadeur du Temple de Shaolin.

Un documentaire sur les jeunes africains de Shaolin est actuellement en cours de production et sera diffusée en 2012 sur les chaines de TV africaines.

Produced by FreemantleMedia, and adapted from the show “Britain’s Got Talent” whose concept we owe to Simon Cowell, last night “France’s Incredible Talent” welcomed Dominique Martin Saatenang to its stage. The second show is in its 6th season.  For all, just two minutes to make an impression.  For the Black Shaolin, a performance packed to win them over.  More than twenty-five years of practice masterfully displayed under the lights of the Palace of Congress at Issy-Les-Moulineaux.  No hesitation.  In the way that ink marries paper.

Singing, dancing, spectacle, illusion.  And martial arts, of course.  To find “the Incredible Talent.”  That is the final goal of the game.  For Dominique Saatenang, he has achieved his goal:  three resounding “yes” votes.  Congratulations from the jury.  Applause from the audience.  The next step:  the semi-finals.  And a new never before seen performance…

« BLACK SHAOLIN » SUR M6 DANS « LA FRANCE A UN INCROYABLE TALENT »

Produite par FreemantleMedia, et adaptée de l’émission Britain’s Got Talent dont on doit le concept à Simon Cowell, « La France a un incroyable Talent » a accueilli hier soir sur son plateau Dominique Martin Saatenang. Seconde émission de la 6ème édition. Pour tous, deux minutes pour convaincre. Pour « Black Shaolin » une performance tout en séduction. Plus de vingt-cinq années de pratique propulsées avec maîtrise sous les projecteurs du Palais des Congrès d’Issy-Les-Moulineaux. Nulle hâte. A la manière de l’encre épousant le papier.

Chant, danse, spectacle,  illusion. Arts martiaux, évidemment. Trouver « l’Incroyable Talent ». Tel est l’objectif de l’émission. Dominique Saatenang a quant à lui atteint son objectif : trois « oui » ferme. Les félicitations du jury. Les applaudissements du public. Prochaine étape : les demi-finales. Et une prestation inédite…

SPORTS INTERVIEW ON FRL (FRENCH RADIO LONDON)

               

Founded by Pascal Grierson just over a year ago, French Radio London – “FRL” for those in the know – serves the French-speaking community.  In all more than 400,000 people!  It has a round-the-clock broadcast in London (11 million inhabitants), in addition to its webcast.

Last September 26th, Paul Basse, sports journalist for the FRL Sports show, hosted Dominique Saatenang to talk with him about his acceptance into Shaolin Temple, China, wushu, or even Roger Milla and Cameroon.
